Brookdale Scholarship Ball Raises Nearly $100,000

FARMINGDALE, NJ (June 2, 2016) – More than 250 community members and area dignitaries helped raise a record amount for local students during the Brookdale Community College Foundation’s 2016 Scholarship Ball, held May 27 at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale.

The event, which featured dinner, dancing, live entertainment and more than 100 prize auctions, raised more than $96,000 for student scholarships and support services at Brookdale.

“We could not be more grateful to the hundreds of community members who came together to raise this unprecedented amount of money for local college students,” said Timothy Zeiss, executive director of the Brookdale Foundation. “On behalf of the Foundation and all of our future scholarship recipients, we express our sincerest thanks.”

Foundation members also recognized two community leaders for their contributions to the Garden State: Thomas Bracken, president and CEO of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, and Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Monmouth County Freeholders John Curley and Gary Rich attended the ball and presented the honorees with certificates of recognition.

The Brookdale Foundation’s “Building Minds, Building Futures” scholarship fund provided nearly $420,000 in scholarships and grants to more than 500 Brookdale students this past academic year. Over the past fifteen years, the Brookdale Foundation has provided over $4.4 million in scholarships and grants to nearly 7,000 students.

The 2016 scholarship ball was co-chaired by Carol Stillwell, of Stillwell-Hansen Inc., and foundation board trustees Candy Langan-Sattenspiel, of Sattenspiel Surgical Arts Pavilion, and Karen Escobedo of New Jersey Natural Gas.
