LINCROFT, NJ (Aug. 19, 2015) – More than 30 artists from Asheville, Spruce Pine and other western North Carolina arts enclaves will be featured in the new exhibition “Clay Directions,” running Sept. 1 – 17 at the Center for the Visual Arts (CVA) at Brookdale Community College, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft.

The exhibition will include more than 90 pieces of pottery, glass, wood and weaving collected by Brookdale art professor Lori Uffer during a sabbatical in the arts communities of the Blue Ridge Mountains last fall.

Featured artists include internationally recognized glass artist Robert Levin, award-winning basket weaver Billie Ruth Sudduth and noted ceramicists Cynthia Bringle, Judith Duff and Nick Joerling.

“Western North Carolina has a long and extremely rich tradition of fine arts and crafts,” said Uffer, whose work will appear in the show as well. “This exhibition showcases the work of some of the region’s most talented artists, including two who have been named ‘North Carolina Living Treasures.’”

In addition to the exhibit, Uffer has also written two books documenting her sabbatical in North Carolina and created the companion website www.claydirections.com

The “Clay Directions” exhibition is free and open to all. For CVA hours or more information call (732) 224-2743 or visit www.brookdalecc.edu/events.
