Global Read Initiative Event on March 27 in Long Branch

Brookdale’s Global Read initiative continues on March 27 with Authors to Leaders: Supporting Immigrant Communities. The event takes place at Brookdale’s Long Branch Higher Education Center from noon to 1:30 p.m. Student authors and community leaders will share their stories, challenges and discuss their work relating to issues affecting immigrant communities.

Anita Voogt, associate vice president of strategic partnerships, is organizing a roundtable discussion with leaders from the Hispanic community on the immigrant experience at Brookdale’s Long Branch campus. The Long Branch center is Brookdale’s most diverse, with the largest proportion of Hispanic students. It is the site of Brookdale’s largest ESL/GED programs.

“Our goal with the panel discussion is to learn more about the challenges faced by our immigrant communities in Long Branch and identify ways to better serve and integrate them into the community and college life,” said Voogt.
