There are many scholarships made available by the Brookdale Foundation and Brookdale Alumni Affairs.

Scholarships by Application

The following are scholarships by application. Please review the applications for criteria and deadlines to submit. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Only the recipient of a scholarship will receive an award letter via email once the selection process has been completed.

Current Available Scholarships

This list is periodically updated; please check back regularly to find scholarships that meet your criteria.


The Buck Smith Endowed Memorial Scholarship: Six (6) $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school students who will be attending Brookdale Community College in Fall 2026. Students must: plan to graduate from a Monmouth County high school in May/June 2026; be registered full time (12 or more credits) at Brookdale for Fall 2026; have a 2.5 GPA or higher.


AAUW (American Association of University Women) Audrie LaTowsky Scholarship: A $2,000 scholarship is available to a Monmouth county resident that is at least 25 years old and has completed 24 credits or is enrolled in enough credits to have accumulated 24 credits by the end of the current semester. Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits during the current semester. Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA or higher.


AAUW (American Association of University Women) Louise Marsen Scholarship: A $2,000 scholarship is available to a Monmouth county resident that has completed 12 credits or is enrolled in enough credits to have accumulated 12 credits by the end of the current semester. Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits during the current semester. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.


AAUW (American Association of University Women) Ruth Kennedy Scholarship: A $2,000 scholarship is available to a Monmouth county resident that has completed 24 credits or is enrolled in enough credits to have accumulated 24 credits by the end of the current semester. Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and must be enrolled in at least 6 credits during the current semester.


Hartley Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship is available to a STEM major with a 3.2 GPA or higher and has completed a minimum of 20 credits.


June Chronic Huhn Endowed Nursing Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships will be awarded for the fall semester for students majoring in Nursing, registered for at least 6 credits. Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.


Dr. Anita Voogt Family Scholarship: Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to full or part time students that are current residents of Long Branch, Long Branch High School graduates, or KEYS Academy graduates. Students must have a grade of “C” or better.


Kaufman Family Scholarship for ESL Students: One $500 scholarship is available to a student studying English as a Second Language (ESL) who is not eligible to complete the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA).


Michael DeStefano Endowed Memorial Scholarship: Two (2) $600 scholarships are available: one (1) scholarship awarded to a student majoring in Nursing and one (1) scholarship awarded to a student majoring in Accounting. Students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.


First-Gen Trailblazer Scholarship: A $600 scholarship will be awarded to a full or part time student with a 2.0 GPA or higher who demonstrates financial need.


Frank Dacey Memorial Scholarship: Three $3,000 scholarships are available to full-timne Electrical Engineering students with a 2.5 GPA or higher.


Kaitlyn Elizabeth Peterson Memorial Endowed Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship is available to students with special needs for the fall semester. Students must have a 2.0 GPA or higher.


James A. Schmitt, Ph.D. Scholarship: One $4,500 scholarship is available for the fall semester to full-time students majoring in Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering with a B minus overall average and a B plus in the desired field.


Robert J. Collins Endowed Memorial Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship is available for Monmouth county resident students majoring in Social Science, with at least 24 credits earned. Students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.


The Donna Paynton Memorial Nursing Scholarship: A $500 award is available for the fall semester to a student that has completed a minimum of 24 credits and has a 3.0 GPA or higher.


The Eileen Lucarelli Memorial Scholarship: $1,800 scholarship is available to a Brookdale student in the Respiratory Therapy Program. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher, earned a minimum of 12 credits, and have filed FAFSA.


The Elaine Lapham Memorial Scholarship: One $500 scholarship will be awarded for this semester to a female student and Monmouth county resident majoring in, or taking Computer Science courses. Students must: have earned at least 8 credits at Brookdale Community College; be registered for at least 6 credits for the current semester; and have a 3.0 GPA or higher.


The James V. Palumbo, Jr. Memorial Scholarship: One $500 scholarship will be awarded for the fall semester to a student athlete that has completed a minimum of 24 credits and has a 3.0 GPA or higher.


The Marianne Drake Memorial Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships will be awarded for the fall semester to Brookdale Community College students who are actively involved in Student Life activities.


Dr. Elaine H. Olaoye Scholarship: One $500 scholarship will be awarded for spring 2026 to students majored in Social Sciences. Students must be researching and writing a paper related to Social Psychology or Social Justice and have a 3.0 GPA or higher.


The T. J. Bruno Memorial Scholarship for Students with Disabilities: Ten ($600) scholarships will be awarded to students currently enrolled in or graduating from a Monmouth County High School and are classified and determined eligible for special education and related services under provision of the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA).


Elaine Baran Scholarship for Study Abroad: One–Three (1–3) $500 – $1,500 scholarships can be awarded to eligible students seeking to participate in a Brookdale study abroad program.


Frank Whyman Scholarship for Brookdale Students: This scholarship is open to any Brookdale Community College student, who is registered for at least six credits and who is not eligible to complete the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • Deadline is June 15 for the Fall semester and November 15 for the Spring semester. Application opens in April for the June 15 deadline and in September for the November 15 deadline.

Scholarships from Other Organizations


Jack Scura Fund Scholarship: One $10,000 scholarship is available to a student with an intellectual, a severe physical, or a psychiatric disability who is attending or planning to attend a New Jersey college or university. Applicants must have a 3.2 GPA or higher.


Eglet Law Community Involvement Scholarship: A $1000 scholarship is available to any student dedicated to community involvement and to protecting peoples’ rights. Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, graduate, or professional program in the United States and have a 2.5 GPA or higher.


Rudy Webster Family & Community Scholarship: One $1,500 scholarship is available to applicants that are currently enrolled in an accredited high school, community college, undergraduate, or graduate program in the United States. Applicants must be 17 or older.


Finch College Alumni Foundation Trust Transferring Scholarship: Two (2) $2,500 scholarships, totaling $5,000, are available to eligible women, 22 years or older, graduating from a local community college and transferring to an accredited college or university in the United States. Requirements: a 3.5 grade point average; acceptance letter from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States; United States citizenship or permanent United States Green Card.


Dirk Derrick Car & Truck Accident Injury Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship for those affected by auto accidents.


Lounge Lizard Web Design Scholarship: $1,000 awarded semi-annually for fall & spring semesters. Design critique from Ken Braun, Founder & Chief Creative Officer.


The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders created a scholarship program for Brookdale graduates who are residents of Monmouth County planning to attend Monmouth University. Nine (9) Eligible students can receive $5,000 per academic year for up to two consecutive years. Students must meet certain criteria.
