Providing the Brookdale Community College Foundation with an outright contribution can have an immediate impact on the life and future of a deserving middle-class student who does not qualify for state or federal aid.  Outright gifts provide both a tax deduction and instant gratification from the knowledge that you are making a difference in the life of a student – or students.

Cash – Cash, check and credit card gifts offer a simple and convenient way to offer your support. Cash gifts are considered transferred on the date they are hand-delivered, electronically verified, or postmarked.

Securities – Income tax deductions are available for the fair market value of donated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, rather than on their cost basis. Giving securities that have grown in value bypasses the capital gains tax that would be due if you simply sold them. Selling securities that have diminished in value and then gifting the proceeds to the Brookdale Foundation allows you to take the loss on your taxes while benefiting from a charitable tax deduction as well. View more details in this PDF – Gifts of Stock or Other Securities.

Real Estate – A home, farm, office building, or undeveloped lot might be donated to provide the Foundation with proceeds from the property’s sale. This type of gift can also offer you a charitable tax deduction, help avoid capital gains tax on the property, and reduce worry for your heirs.

Employer Matching Gift – Many employers’ matching gift programs will match any charitable contributions made by employees to a 501(c)(3). If your company is eligible, request a matching gift from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift may be doubled! Some companies also will match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.

Planned Giving – Planned gifts are often deferred gifts such as wills, trusts, or gifts of life insurance. This type of gift costs you nothing during your lifetime and may have many tax advantages. Individuals and families who make a planned gift become members of the Brookdale Legacy Society.

Memorial Gifts – You may make a donation in memory of a loved one to our Scholarship Fund. Please contact us for more information.

Tribute Gifts – You may make a donation in tribute to, or in honor of, a family member, friend, or colleague to our Scholarship Fund. Please contact us for more information. The Foundation will notify them in writing that you have made a gift (not the amount) in their honor.
