The Dr. Carl Calendar Visiting Writers Series presents a reading and discussion with novelist Hernán Díaz
When: October 16, Tues., 7pm
Where: Lincroft campus, Student life Center, Navesink III
Who: Pulitzer Prize Finalist and novelist Hernán Díaz was born in Argentina and left for Sweden aboard a freighter ship with his family when he was two years old, escaping the military junta that had just seized power. In his novel, In the Distance, a Swedish immigrant traverses the western expanse of nineteenth-century America on his way to New York to find his brother. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, it is a “gorgeously written novel that charts one man’s growth from boyhood to mythic status as he journeys between continents and the extremes of the human condition.” —Pulitzer Prizes
