Kristin has served the Brookdale community for over 20 years through her work in the Admissions Office. She started her career as an Admissions Representative at Brookdale in 2006 and accepted the role of Director of Admissions in 2021. Kristin continues to advocate for affordable access to higher education, believing strongly in the life-changing power continuing education can have for individuals and communities alike. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, crafting, and spending time outdoors.

John serves as the Associate Director of Admissions at Brookdale Community College, where he oversees application systems, admissions operations, and the Admissions Ambassador program. With a decade of experience in enrollment management, he is dedicated to creating clear, accessible pathways for students navigating the college process. As a first-generation college graduate, John is especially committed to helping students feel informed, supported, and confident in their next steps. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, reading, and watching movies.

As Brookdale’s Bilingual Assistant Director of Admissions, Susana supports prospective students throughout the admissions process as they explore their educational opportunities and take the next steps toward college. She enjoys helping students and families feel informed and supported, and her fluency in Portuguese and Spanish allows her to offer additional assistance to those who are more comfortable communicating in those languages. Outside of her professional role, Susana enjoys cooking, spending time with family, traveling, and trying new restaurants.

Shannen Mateo

Shannen first came to Brookdale Community College as a graduate intern, and from the very beginning the college felt like home. What began as an internship quickly turned into a career, and she has now proudly been part of the Brookdale community for over a decade. During that time, she has had the opportunity to work in several different departments across campus before ultimately finding her professional home in the Admissions Office.
In her role, Shannen enjoys connecting with prospective students and their families, helping them navigate the college search process, and supporting them as they take the next step in their educational journey. Outside of work, Shannen is a proud new mom who loves spending time with her family. She enjoys staying active through fitness, spending time at the beach, and making the most of time outdoors whenever she can.

Jessica is one of our Assistant Directors of Admission at Brookdale, where she assists with guiding students through the admissions process and helping them achieve their educational goals. Outside of her professional role, Jessica enjoys traveling, crafting, reading, and spending time in nature.

Katie thrives on empowering learners to see what’s possible and take bold steps toward their goals.

Karina Jolley
Transfer Credit Evaluator

Responsible for: Reviewing students’ official transcripts from other colleges to determine how their completed courses can transfer to Brookdale.
As the Transfer Credit Evaluator at Brookdale Community College, Karina is responsible for reviewing incoming transfer credit. She strives to make the transfer credit evaluation process clear and consistent for students. In her free time, Karina enjoys embroidery, musical theatre, and road trips.

Kristina Diaz

Responsible for: Kris provides information and assistance to prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and community residents about the application and subsequent enrollment processes at the college. She processes documents and maintains the accuracy of student files. Kris supports our Assistant Directors in their recruiting efforts.
Kris enjoys greeting students and their families in the Admissions office and is ready to answer questions and help with the application process and the next steps to enrollment. Admissions is often the starting point to find other resources at the college, and she is happy to direct prospective and current students to the answers that they need. She ensures that documents are handled with promptness and accuracy. Kris aligns strongly with the Brookdale mission to guide diverse learners toward lifelong growth and success. Outside of work, she enjoys walking in the park, playing tennis and reading.

Barbara Taylor
Enrollment Specialist

Responsible for: Assisting prospective and current students, faculty, staff, visitors and College employees as well as anyone who walks into the Admissions Office with questions regarding the application process and how to request their high school transcripts, as well as any college transcripts.
Barbara enjoys working as an Enrollment Specialist at Brookdale Community College because she can assist students, their parents, and friends with the next steps in applying to Brookdale. She guides them through what they need to complete, and how to get there Barbara takes pride in the alignment of her work with Brookdale Community College’s goals and mission to support the students, community members, as well as our senior citizens. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family (her grandson, Dion), watching movies, playing games (bowling and cards), and reading a good book.
