Thank you for your service to our Country.  There are a variety of different kinds of VA Benefits students receive students may be eligible based on their time in service, contract information or dependent status.  Student should submit the following after they have registered for their courses.  Documents should be emailed to the Veterans Center at:  veteraninfo@brookdalecc.edu

Chapters 30, 1606, 1607, REAP/VEAP:

If you have never used your benefits for education:  Complete the VA Form 22-1990 available online at https://benefits.va.gov/gibill/apply.asp. Please save and submit a copy of your completed application confirmation, updated eBenefits eligibility, or Certificate of Eligibility information to the Veterans Center.  Please submit this information to:  veteraninfo@brookdalecc.edu.

If you have used your education benefits for education at another institution or have changed your benefit type, complete the VA Form 22-1995 available online at https://benefits.va.gov/gibill/apply.asp  Please save and submit a copy of your completed application confirmation, updated eBenefits eligibility, or Certificate of Eligibility information to the Veterans Center.  Please submit this information to:  veteraninfo@brookdalecc.edu.

Students must also have a copy of their DD-214, Member 4 indicating discharge status (ie. Honorable Discharge).  If you do not have a copy of your DD-214 and need one, please visit www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrecs/index.html  Students using REAP benefits may have a Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) in lieu of a DD-214 and should provide this document to our office.

Student who use the above noted GI Bill benefits must make payment arrangements for their courses.  Students can sign up for the Veteran Delayed Payment Plan.  This allows students to pay up to three equal sums over a three month period.  Please contact the Veterans Center via email at:  veteraninfo@brookdalecc.edu to make arrangements to use this plan.

Chapter 31/Vocational Rehabilitation:

Students receiving Chapter 31 benefits should contact their Vocational Rehabilitation (VRE) counselor prior to enrolling in classes.  Your counselor can provide you with information regarding the benefits you are entitled to, and will also provide Brookdale with your approval for benefits,  indicating you are eligible to receive Chapter 31 benefits.  Your VRE Counselor can contact our office at:  veteraninfo@brookdalecc.edu to notify us of your eligibility.

Chapter 33/Post 9/11 GI Bill:

Chapter 35/Survivors’ and Dependents’ Education Assistance:

If you have used your education benefits for education at another institution or have changed your benefit type, complete the VA Form 22-5495 available online at https://benefits.va.gov/gibill/apply.asp  Please save and submit a copy of your completed application confirmation, or Certificate of Eligibility information to the Veterans Center.  Please submit this information to:  veteraninfo@brookdalecc.edu.

Please note, in addition to the confirmation of your application or Certificate of Eligibility from the VA we will also require additional information to submit your benefits.  Students must provide the Social Security Number or VA File Number of the Veteran through whom they receive this benefit.  If the student is a child dependent of the Veteran, we will also need to know if other siblings are utilizing benefits.  This information can be provided to us when submitting your documents.
