The Community College Opportunity Grant is a New Jersey state-funded financial aid program for students attending community colleges statewide. For students who meet certain eligibility criteria, CCOG may enable thousands of students to attend community colleges tuition free.

To determine one’s eligibility, students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form or the New Jersey Alternate Financial Aid Form prior to September 15, 2019. Representatives from Brookdale Community College are available to provide free assistance to students, parents and guardians in completing the FAFSA. For general information, please call 732-224-2020 or visit www.brookdalecc.edu/ccog.

“We encourage students and families to contact us to determine their eligibility for the CCOG program,” said Ed Johnson, executive director of government affairs and community relations at Brookdale. “The program will enable many students to pursue their academic and career goals tuition free.”

CCOG can cover either fully or partially the gap between awarded financial aid and the tuition/fees costs associated with pursuing an approved degree or certificate program. In the recently approved state budget, the adjusted gross income eligibility level was raised to $65,000 with a total allocation of $25 million.

Individuals must meet the following criteria for CCOG eligibility:

-complete the FAFSA or New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Form prior to September 15, 2019

-enroll for at least six credits in the Fall 2019 and/or Spring 2020 academic terms

-have an annual adjustment gross income of $65,000 or less

-maintain satisfactory academic progress

-not already possess a college degree

Additionally, Brookdale Student Success Navigators are available to visit community and non-profit organizations in Monmouth County.  SSC Navigators provide presentations about academic and career programs and information about enrollment and admissions processes. Presentations can be tailored to the specific needs of each group, organization or congregation.
