Start an exciting career in fitness – become a Certified Personal Trainer. This instructor-led course offers in-depth practical training in the essential skills and knowledge in fitness and health. The program consists of 15 hours of lecture in biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing, equipment usage, health assessment and 15 hours of hands-on practical training on assessing clients, programming, performing proper exercise, presentation skills, and more. Must be 18 years of age; CPR/AED must be achieved before taking the certification test which is given on the last day of class.
Areas Of Study: Anatomy, physiology, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, cardio-respiratory fitness, nutrition, musculoskeletal injuries, weight control, health screening, motivation, and more. This course is similar to a first year college-level course. Students must read and comprehend at that level to be successful.

Pilates Instructor positions are on the rise. Train with one of the best Pilates houses in the world and get certified through the Kane School teacher training program. This in-depth Mat certification course will prepare you for a career as a Pilates Mat instructor qualified to teach in clinical settings, dance studios, fitness facilities, Pilates or Yoga studios or as an independent contractor. It also meets the prerequisite for moving forward toward a full Pilates apparatus training.
Course includes two components:
Foundations – 4 SESSIONS: (two consecutive weekends)
Core Muscle Anatomy:Explores musculoskeletal anatomy and basic kinesiology principles— emphasizing the trunk, hip, shoulder girdle, arm, and neck—as they relate to the teaching and practice of Pilates, yoga, and bodywork. It lays the foundation for further study as a movement professional and fulfills the prerequisite for the Kane School certification program. Course is presented in lecture-style format with workbooks and Power-point presentations. Gain hands on experience via regular palpation of muscles, bones, and ligaments. Learn how to practically apply information to your movement professional career via analysis of Pilate’s exercises and an introduction to posture analysis. Additional topics include core stability and the anatomical basis of common tension patterns and injuries. Students can test out of this course with a passing grade on the Kane School anatomy entrance exam.

Comprehensive Mat Course – 4 SESSIONS: (two consecutive weekends)
Comprehensive Mat certification advances instructors with a mastery of Pilates mat exercises as well as the knowledge to address bio-mechanics and postural issues in private and group settings. Includes lecture, self-study and assistant-teaching hours.

Students must pass a test in both anatomy and comprehensive mat choreography at the completion of the 8 days. Additional hours of self-practice, group classes and student teaching are required for certification.
