Brookdale hosted the 2019 American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges conference in March. This year’s theme was “Game Up Your Math.”

More than 30 faculty from New Jersey Community Colleges and local public school math educators attended the conference.

Dr. Kathleen Offenholley, keynote speaker for the event, had attendees construct and share games they created using concepts like the use of randomization, rapid completion, and the rival concept of a competitive game. The games created during the workshop were shared so they could be used in the classroom.

“The workshop was a success from more than one perspective,” said Offenholley. “It was not only enjoyed by all who attended, but provided faculty with practical online engagement tools to help promote student success and demonstrated how faculty can be creative in game-making.”
