Come meet local candidates and enjoy live music at Brookdale’s History and Political Science Club’s Rock the Vote Event on October 10 from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the Navesink Rooms of the Student Life Center.

The event is designed to encourage voter education and registration. As the October 15th deadline in New Jersey to register to vote for this year’s election approaches, students will be able to register to vote at the event. Members of the Campus Election Engagement Project will provide information. In addition, there will be information about the importance of voter engagement and question and answer sessions with local politicians.

Scheduled to speak at the event are Allison Friedman and Barbara Singer, both Democrats who are running for State Assembly in the 13th District. The 13th District includes the municipalities of Aberdeen, Atlantic Highlands, Fair Haven, Hazlet, Highlands, Holmdel, Keansburg, Keyport, Little Silver, Marlboro, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Rumson, Sea Bright and Union Beach.

Local bands Shoobies and Flourish will provide live entertainment for the event. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter raffles and win prizes.

This non-partisan civic event is sponsored by the Campus Election Engagement Project and Brookdale’s History and Political Science Club.
