Brookdale Community College (Brookdale) and University of the Arts (UArts) in Philadelphia, PA, have signed a Direct Transfer Agreement. This transformative agreement is designed to create a smooth and direct pathway for students completing Brookdale’s Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Game Design program, paving the way for their seamless transfer into the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (BFA) in Game Art program at UArts.

The Agreement, set to take effect in the 2023-2024 academic year, extends a unique opportunity for Brookdale graduates to secure first-semester junior status at UArts, upon fulfilling specific criteria. This collaborative initiative aims to streamline the transfer process, opening doors for students choosing to pursue advanced studies in game design.

To qualify for admission under the Agreement, Brookdale students must meet several requirements, including obtaining an AAS in Game Design, maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, earning a C or higher in transferable courses, and applying to UArts with a waived application fee. Successful applicants must enroll at UArts within one year of graduating from Brookdale, having attended no other institutions in the interim.

For those meeting the outlined criteria, admission to UArts will be granted at the first-semester junior level. However, students whose portfolios fall short during the application review may be admitted with sophomore status. Brookdale students have no binding obligation to enroll at UArts after receiving admission offers.

This Agreement signifies a significant step forward in facilitating educational mobility for game design students. It exemplifies the dedication of Brookdale Community College and University of the Arts to providing accessible pathways for students to pursue their passions in the dynamic field of game art.
