What happens when a rabbi, a historian, and a group of learning enthusiasts take a bus ride to Philly? They wind up in jail! Join Brookdale’s dynamic duo, Dr. Christopher Bellitto and Rabbi Brooks Susman for an intriguing visit to Philadelphia. Tour a 173-year-old National Historic Landmark, the Eastern State Penitentiary, with its cathedral-like cell blocks including the cell of the infamous Alphonse “Scarface” Capone. Experience an audio tour of the prison “Voices of Eastern State” narrated by actor Steve Buscemi. Hear cell doors slamming, guards issuing orders and listen to the 1961 riot unfold in chaos. After lunch at Jack’s Firehouse, our step-on guide will take us on the renowned Philadelphia Mural Arts Tour.  We will view many of the over 2,600 colorful murals and works of public art adorning the city of Philadelphia.
