The United Nations and Human Security course examines the changing peace and security challenges faced by the UN in an evolving international environment that is no longer solely characterized by state and inter-state security. The course covers a wide range of pressing current issues–including refugees, international tribunals, the promotion of democracy, ethics, regional organizations, humanitarian intervention, conflict prevention, and peacekeeping–that form a cutting-edge and controversial security agenda. The course will also explore the issue of human security and the role of the international community led by the United Nations. 3 SESSIONS
