About Foundational Studies

Foundational Studies courses in math, reading and writing are available for students needing additional reinforcement in order to be successful in college level courses. Many college level courses require pre-requisite math, reading and writing skills and Foundational Studies courses help students satisfy these needs.

The typical student entering community college must be evaluated for placement regarding Foundational Studies courses. A student must satisfy Foundational Studies pre-requisites. The student can accomplish this in one of two ways:

  1. By demonstrating knowledge of Foundational Studies math, reading and writing on the Accuplacer or with SAT scores.
  2. By taking the necessary Foundational Studies courses.

Do I have to take a Foundational Studies course?

Complete information about how we waive this requirement (either partially or in full) is found HERE.
