Brookdale Public Radio, 90.5 The Night, proudly announces it has been awarded a major grant from The O’Toole Family Foundation.

This transformative grant will provide essential support for the station’s operations, including sustaining local programming, preserving music rights, and strengthening Brookdale Public Radio’s role as an independent non-profit, community-driven source for music, culture, and connection across Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

“We are deeply honored by the generosity of The O’Toole Family Foundation,” said David M. Stout, Ph.D., president of Brookdale Community College. “This gift ensures that 90.5 The Night can continue its mission to serve as a cultural hub for our listeners while fostering the next generation of broadcasters and creators here at Brookdale.”

90.5 The Night has long been recognized for its commitment to independent music and community programming, reaching thousands of listeners daily on-air and online. The station also provides invaluable hands-on training for Brookdale students interested in pursuing careers in media and broadcasting.

“We’re proud to support Brookdale Public Radio, located in the heart of New Jersey’s storied rock and roll history,” said Terry O’Toole, co-chair of the Foundation. “As a long-time 90.5 The Night listener, it’s important to help the station continue its mission as an independent voice of the community. This support should help the station expand its reach and listenership.”

“This grant is more than financial support—it’s a statement of confidence in the work we do every day,” said Tom Brennan, station manager. “We are thrilled to deepen our impact and expand opportunities for our listeners, artists, and students thanks to this historic gift.”

The O’Toole Family Foundation’s support marks a pivotal moment in the station’s history, ensuring that Brookdale Public Radio continues to thrive as a trusted, listener-powered voice for the community. The Foundation has been a supporter of 90.5 The Night since 2017, including through its sponsorship of the station’s Songwriters on the Beach summer concert series.
