Brookdale Community College Students Spend Spring Break Exploring Careers at Bell WorksWhile many college students spent spring break relaxing or catching up on sleep, a group of driven and ambitious Brookdale Community College students chose a different path—one focused on career exploration, networking, and discovering the possibilities that await them after graduation.

On a crisp spring morning, students gathered at Brookdale’s campus before boarding transportation to Bell Works, the iconic “metroburb” in Holmdel known for its innovative companies, collaborative workspaces, and vibrant community of entrepreneurs. What followed was a full day of learning, inspiration, and meaningful connection.

A Day Fueled by Curiosity and Connection

Brookdale Community College Students Spend Spring Break Exploring Careers at Bell WorksThe day began with a guided tour led by the creative team at Bell Works—featuring a special Brookdale connection. Brooke Petrany, a proud Brookdale alumna, welcomed students and shared her journey from Brookdale to her current role as Head of Marketing for npz studio+, the visionary creative agency behind much of Bell Works’ branding and storytelling. Her story inspired students and demonstrated the power of perseverance, creativity, and Brookdale’s strong academic foundation.

The group then headed to CentralReach, where they met Yvette Boucher, Director, and Chelsea Louro, Sr. Manager. Both leaders provided thoughtful insight into their roles and the company’s mission of supporting organizations in the behavioral science and healthcare sectors, while also sharing their unique career paths—from teaching and sales to their current leadership positions at CentralReach. Their openness helped students see how non‑linear journeys can lead to meaningful and impactful careers.

Next, the students met with Angelica Rios of Alterra, an entrepreneur, financier, and business coach, as well as her team of business partners, real estate investors, and financiers. Rios’s message centered on empowerment, confidence, and building a career with intention—an inspiring conversation that encouraged students to reflect on their own aspirations.

Lunch & Exploration at Bell Works

Brookdale Community College Students Spend Spring Break Exploring Careers at Bell WorksLunch began at Mezza Luna, where students enjoyed time together before venturing into Bell Works Fresh – the Farmers & Makers Market. The market was filled with small business owners, artists, and local makers, giving students a chance to explore, interact, and even do a little shopping. This hands‑on experience showcased the entrepreneurial spirit that thrives within the Bell Works community.

After lunch, the afternoon continued with a visit to Two River Tech, where Director of Sales & Marketing Roman Feldman demystified the world of IT services, cybersecurity, and technical support. His guidance helped students envision how their developing abilities can translate into high‑demand career paths. Feldman was also proud to share that several Brookdale alumni work on his team, reinforcing the strong presence of Brookdale talent throughout Bell Works.

At F45 Fitness Training, co‑owner Chrissy Signore shared what it takes to run a successful fitness business and the importance of community engagement, branding, and customer care. She also demonstrated the impressive technology behind F45’s coaching model—showing students how the franchise leverages integrated digital tools, visual workout displays, and automated class systems to deliver high‑energy, coach‑led sessions with consistency and innovation across all locations.

The final session of the day brought students to First Energy Corp, where Alix Hayes, Community Involvement Consultant, offered insights into careers that blend engineering, outreach, and public service. She also shared how First Energy Corp has partnered with Brookdale through grants and career programs—collaborations that have benefited all parties involved, and most importantly, provided meaningful opportunities and support for students. Hayes, along with a team of engineers, helped students gain a deeper understanding of how technical fields connect to community needs and infrastructure, even providing special access to the command center area where engineers monitor power grids across multiple states.
