Two Award-Winning Poets Will Read and Discuss Their Work

DeeSoul Carson is a poet, educator, and host of the O,Word? podcast. A Standford alum, his work is featured or forthcoming in POETRY Magazine, Muzzle Magazine, AGNI, & elsewhere. For his work, DeeSoul has received a National Endowment for the Arts and a fellowships from the NYU MFA program, the Watering Hole, and the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference. His debut full-length, The Laughing Barrel, is forthcoming from Alice James Books in Spring 2027.

 

 

Jeanann Verlee is the author of three books: prey, Said the Manic to the Muse, and award-winning Racing Hummingbirds. She has received a National Endowment for the Arts Poetry Fellowship, the Third Coast Poetry Prize, and the Sandy Crimmins National Prize, among other honors. Her poems and essays are featured in numerous journals, including Academy of American Poets, Adroit, Buzzfeed, and Muzzle. She has performed for hundreds of programs, universities, and conferences, including PBS’s Brief but Spectacular, PEN America, Lincoln Center, Split This Rock, The Juilliard School, Princeton, Yale, and more. She collects tattoos, kisses Rottweilers, and believes in you.
