At Brookdale Community College’s annual reorganization meeting in November, the Board of Trustees ushered in a new chapter of leadership with the election of Barbara Horl as Chair for the 2025–2026 year. Conducted in accordance with New Jersey statute, the meeting reflects the Board’s continued commitment to strong governance, collaboration, and student success.
A Brookdale trustee since 2019, Horl has extensive experience in public service, education policy, and institutional leadership. Her election as Chair builds on years of dedicated service to the College and a deep commitment to expanding access to higher education throughout Monmouth County and across New Jersey.
In addition to her leadership at Brookdale, Horl was elected Vice Chair of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges (NJCCC). She serves on the NJCCC Executive Committee and co-chairs the Council’s State Policy and Legislative Committee, where she works closely with state and federal leaders to advance policies that support New Jersey’s community colleges and expand access to education, workforce development, and economic opportunity for students statewide.
At the same meeting, Tracey Abby-White was elected Vice Chair of the Brookdale Board of Trustees, continuing her strong leadership and advocacy for student success.
Together with David M. Stout, Ph.D., President of Brookdale Community College, the Board’s leadership reflects Brookdale’s strong presence at both the local and statewide levels, positioning the College for continued collaboration, progress, and impact in the year ahead.
