Land Use Administrator/Administrative Assistant to Construction Official - Borough of Mountain Lakes, NJ

Position Summary

Seeking a motivated individual for a dual role, serving as Land Use Administrator and Construction Office Administrative Assistant.


 


Job Responsibilities

The Land Use Administrator portion of the role includes but is not limited to advising property owners, developers, and others on the practices and procedures of the Planning and Zoning Boards, attending all meetings of the Boards (usually one per month each), taking official meeting minutes, maintaining all board and commission records (including calendars, agendas, minutes, and legal publications), processing OPRA requests, assisting applicants in submitting development applications with all submission requirements, determining the completeness of all applications, and issues all notices or certifications as required by law.


The Administrative Assistant portion of the position includes but is not limited to providing support for staff, assisting residents, mailing correspondence, facilitating the issuance of construction permits, scheduling inspections, and processing permit applications and OPRA requests. Applicants must be detail oriented.


Qualifications

-Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.

-Experience with the Spatial Data Logic program and possession of a New Jersey Planning / Zoning Board Secretary certificate, Technical Assistant to the Construction Official (TACO) certification, and/or Zoning Official Certificate from Rutgers Center of Government Services are a plus.

-Experience in related municipal positions is highly preferred.


*The salary range for this full-time position is $60,000 – $85,000, commensurate with experience. The Borough offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes health, dental, and prescription insurance coverage or a stipend is available for those who opt out of the group health insurance plan; enrollment in the PERS pension; paid time off including holidays, vacation, sick and personal time; short-term disability benefits; optional enrollment in a 457B deferred compensation plan and more.
