VentureHive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem
The VentureHive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem (VEE) at Brookdale Community College will serve as an economic development driver for Monmouth County. The VentureHive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem will focus on serving as a platform for partnerships, coaching for entrepreneurship, and teaching and fostering a culture of collaboration. This approach to economic development relies on the identification and strengthening of networks within a given geographic area. We call this an economic development ecosystem.
The VentureHive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem at Brookdale will focus on Monmouth County
The VentureHive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem will provide:
- The cultivation of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs take a concept and seek to build their own businesses. This has the effect of creating new jobs, encouraging innovation, and developing new markets. It also allows the regional economy to diversify and contribute to social change by meeting the needs of consumers locally. The VentureHive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem is creating an entrepreneurial pathway for those that are interested in receiving coaching from the point of having a “great idea” continuing on to pitching for venture funding and continuing support once the business has been established or grown. The centerpiece of this activity will be a 15-week entrepreneur boot camp that will be run in a cohort format.
- A culture of collaboration. Collaboration is the activity of participants working together on shared goals with their mutual benefit in mind. This contributes to economic growth through new innovations and the formation of trust among individuals and organizations that result in a more resilient regional economy. The VentureHive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem will work toward building a culture of collaboration by engaging in workshops and seeking to provide collaboration training to influencers.
- Regional economic development. The VentureHive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem seeks to build the capability to work with municipalities and economic development organizations across Monmouth County to foster best practices in community development. Industry clusters will be identified and leveraged to encourage activity to strengthen these sectors and help them to grow in competitiveness. This activity will focus on the deployment of collaboration methodologies and the engagement of the economic development ecosystem that Brookdale will host.
