Brookdale Leads the Way to Mental Health Wellness!

Brookdale Community College DECLARES THE COLLEGE A STIGMA-FREE ZONE.

Brookdale’s goal is to raise awareness for the diseases of mental illness and substance use disorder, promote the use of inclusive language and encourage those who are affected to seek services and feel supported. Navigating life with a mental health condition can be tough, and the isolation, blame, and secrecy that is often encouraged by stigma can create huge challenges to reaching out, getting needed support, and living well.  Brookdale will encourage the use of the many mental health resources available, so no student needs to feel hopeless or alone.

TalkCampus Support App

Brookdale is excited to announce that we are now partnered with TalkCampus, a global 24/7 mental health support network for our students.  TalkCampus harnesses the power of safe social networking and peer support with professional safeguards and gives students a safe space to openly discuss mental health and other issues that are impacting them.

Current students can download the free “TalkCampus” app onto their phone or tablet (from their app store), and immediately access the network using their Brookdale e-mail address.  They can browse, post, and interact with other students from around the country and around the globe, with 24/7 professional safeguards in place to quickly get students additional help if they are in need.  Additionally, the app contains information about other Brookdale-specific resources for easy access.
