Summer Financial Aid Process

What can I apply for?

The ONLY financial aid available for the summer is Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loans.

How will I know if I qualify for summer aid?

Federal Pell GrantYour Pell Grant eligibility is based on the number of credits you were previously paid for during the award year at any Institution. If you received two Full Time terms of Pell this year, you may be eligible for Pell as long as you are attending 6 eligible credits in any combination of the summer terms and you must remain enrolled for 6 credits on the date of disbursement. If you received less than Full Time Pell, you may have remaining eligibility without taking 6 credits. Every term of Pell received is applied to your Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) which is the equivalent of 12 full time terms (600%). Within 24 hours of your registering for summer credits, you will be able to see how much Pell Grant you have available by signing on to WebAdvisor Self-Service, Account Summary/Activity.

Federal Direct Loans – Your Direct Loan eligibility is based on whether or not you have borrowed your annual loan limit for the award year at any Institution. Your eligibility for a Direct Loan will be determined based upon if there is left-over eligibility, your enrollment, the educational costs of the academic program, and the estimated financial aid resources you will have for the loan period.  You must be registered for a minimum of 6 eligible credits in any combination of the summer terms and you must remain enrolled for 6 credits on the date of disbursement. The summer loan application process is not the same as the loan process for the Fall and Spring terms. To apply you must complete this special Summer Loan Request Form.

When will I receive my summer awards?

Your aid will be posted to your student account following the add/drop period of the LAST summer term you are registered in and attending. You must be attending 6 eligible credits at the time of disbursement. If your summer award(s) exceed your total charges for all summer terms, you may purchase books in the College Store, two weeks prior to the start of your first summer term.
