After the FAFSA is completed
Your FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) will be forwarded to you by email or regular mail. An electronic version called an ISIR will be forwarded to Brookdale’s Financial Aid Office. You must have completed the Brookdale Admissions Application and have provided a valid Social Security number that matches the Social Security number that you entered on your FAFSA. You should review your FSS for accuracy. If your FAFSA was rejected or if you have corrections to make, you will need to go back to the FAFSA website and choose the correction option to make changes.
The FSS contains the Student Aid Index (SAI), which is used to calculate your eligibility for federal financial aid. If you are a NJ resident, FAFSA processing will forward your FAFSA to our state agency, NJ Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA). NJ HESAA will send you an email that will require you to log in to NJFAMS, the state student portal, to check your To Do list and to see if your record is complete. It will list your eligibility for state awards and the amount you may be eligible to receive as a full-time student.
Remember, the Brookdale Financial Aid Office makes the final decision on the amount of state aid you are eligible to receive in accordance with state laws and regulations, and will prorate the amount if you are not attending full-time (12 credits). The amount of your eligibility is based on the number of credits you are enrolled in at the time of disbursement. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits to qualify for state financial aid.
Missing Information / Verification
Brookdale will send an email to the students Brookdale email address if additional documents are needed to process financial aid. Your FAFSA may have been selected for verification by Brookdale or the US Dept. of Education. The Financial Aid office is required to obtain specific documents from you. Be sure to review your “check list” in Web Advisor Self Service under My Financial Aid. NJHESAA/NJFAMS will contact you separately and request that you upload specific documentation. Please respond promptly in order to prevent delays in processing your application for aid. If you have any questions about what you are to provide, please call the One Stop Call center at 732-224-2020.
Provide documentation requested by Brookdale by mail to Brookdale Community College Office; Office of Financial Aid; 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738, or FAX to 732-224-2003. You can also visit Brookdale’s One Stop Center in the CAR building on the Lincroft campus, or visit any Brookdale Regional location. Do not email documents as our email address is not secure. You will also be provided with instructions on how to upload documents using a secure process.
If NJHESAA/NJFAMS requests additional documentation, they will contact the student with instructions.
