Things you should know if you apply for Financial Aid
If you completed your FAFSA be sure that you have included Brookdale School code 008404. We will notify you once you have competed your Admissions application and your information including your social security number has been entered to the College system. Once you hear from us be sure to access Financial Aid Self-Service in WebAdvisor! This link gives the financial aid applicant a secure place to review their checklist, application status, financial aid awards, and other important information. Here’s how to Log in…
- Visit the Brookdale website at http://www.brookdalecc.edu and click on MyBrookdale
If you do not know your login information on the op of the screen click on NETID
- On the top of your screen click on WebAdvisor Self-Service
- Login and click on Student and click on the link to My Financial Aid under Financial Information
We got your FAFSA! What happens next?
You will receive email notifications to your Brookdale email if additional information is required to determine your financial aid award. Your email message will instruct you to sign on the WebAdvisor Self-Service; My Financial Aid. Most required documents are submitted electronically using DocuSign. Others can be submitted FAX at 732-224-2003, or visit the One Stop Center on the Lincroft campus or any of our Brookdale locations. You can also mail documents to Brookdale Community College, Office of Financial Aid, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738. Do not email your documents as the FA Office email address is not secure. If you plan to take out a Student Loan click on the Loan Instructions link on your Financial Aid Self-Service home page.
Once your file is complete, you will receive an email directing you to check your financial aid eligibility in WebAdvisor Self-Service, My Financial Aid found under Financial Information. Loans will not be awarded unless you complete a separate loan request process.
All awards are based on Full Time status (12 or more credits) so that you are aware of the amount you can receive as a Full Time student.
Once you register for classes, your registration activity will be evaluated each night to check course eligibility requirements and adjust your award accordingly. The day after you register, link to WebAdvisor Self-Service, My Student Account Activity found under Financial Information and review your tuition and fee charges, anticipated financial aid, and balance. If you register for less than 12 credits, your will award will be prorated.
Also, Important to remember…
If you were a High School Senior when you completed the Brookdale Admissions Application, you will be required to submit proof that you graduated from High School.
Each term you must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress, as defined by Brookdale Community College Office of Financial Aid.
Your financial aid award in the My Financial Aid Self-Service may not match your anticipated award reported in your My Student Account Activity because you do not have at least 12 eligible credits.
Eligible credits are defined as:
Registered credits that are needed to obtain your degree/certificate in your current program/major. Use Degree Audit found in Academic Profile in WebAdvisor to be sure your courses are included in your degree audit. If it is listed in the category as “Other” it is not required.
Classes that you have NOT taken twice and passed at least one of those times.
Credits totaling less than 30 attempted remedial credits. Once you have attempted 30 remedial credits, you no longer qualify for federal aid for remedial courses.
Classes that you have not been reported as “Never Attended”.
Financial Aid Refunds and Book Store charges
Your aid will be applied to your student account after the add/drop period and then refunds will be distributed within 14 days.
If your Student Account displays a minus (–) before the balance, you may use that amount towards Brookdale College Store purchases beginning two weeks prior to the start of the term and through the add/drop period. Their system will know when you check out at the register.
If you qualify for a refund after your tuition, fees, and book charges are paid and want it directly deposited to your own bank account. Click on MyBrookdale and WebAdvisor Sef-Service and under Financial Information click on, Select Your Preferred Credit Balance Distribution Method. If you do nothing, a check will be mailed to your home address located in your Brookdale record.
