Things you should know if you apply for Financial Aid – 2017-2018
The Financial Aid Office is pleased to provide you with a Financial Aid Link in WebAdvisor! This system gives you, the financial aid applicant, a secure self-service channel to review your application status, financial aid awards, and other important information pertaining to your financial aid. Be sure to read the information on the Home page’s Resources and Helpful Links. All you need is the College User ID and Password provided to you after you completed the Admissions process, and we have received your FAFSA at Brookdale. All communication will be sent to you via your Brookdale email!
Visit the Brookdale website at https://www.brookdalecc.edu and click on MyBrookdale.
On the top of your screen there will be an icon for WebAdvisor.
Click on the Student tab and you will find a link to your Financial Aid self-service.
Financial Aid Awarding at Brookdale
You will receive email notifications if additional information is needed to determine your financial aid award. In addition to regular mail or in person, you can submit all documents by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by FAX at 732-224-2003.
If you plan to take out a Student Loan follow the instruction on the Home Page. Click on the Loan Request Link.
Once your file is complete, you will receive an email advising you to check your financial aid award in WebAdvisor.
Please note that all awards are based on Full Time status (12 or more credits) so that you are aware of the maximum amount you can receive as a Full Time student.
If you register for less than 12 credits, the My Student Account link in WebAdvisor will prorate your Full Time award based on your eligible registered credits. Your registration activity will be evaluated each night to check course eligibility requirements and adjust your award accordingly.
The day after you register, link to My Student Account and review your tuition and fee charges, anticipated financial aid and balance.
Your financial aid award in the Financial Aid Award link on WebAdvisor may not match your anticipated award reported in your Student Account Activity.
Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements to be aware of…
Financial Aid will only award you based upon registered credits that are needed for your current program/major. Use Student Planning in WebAdvisor to be sure your courses are included in your degree audit.
Financial Aid will not pay for a class that you have taken twice and passed at least one of those times.
Financial Aid will not pay for more than 30 attempted remedial credits.
You, the financial aid applicant, must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress, as defined by Brookdale Community College Office of Financial Aid, each term in order to continue to receive financial aid.
Financial Aid Refunds
The timing for refund distributions will be will not occur until after the add/drop period.
Direct Student Loans are disbursed in two payments and not disbursed to your student account until after 30 days of the term has passed.
If your Student Account displays a credit balance, you may use that amount towards Brookdale College Store purchases beginning two weeks prior to the start of the term. Their system will identify your amount when you cash out at the register.
If you qualify for a refund after your tuition, fees, and book charges are paid and want it directly deposited to your own bank account, or One-Card, sign on to MyBrookdale and WebAdvisor and select E-Check Refund or Money Network Enabled Discover OneCard. If you do nothing, a check will be mailed to your home address located in your Brookdale record.
If you choose to opt out of email communication, please send a certified letter to the Financial Aid Office at 765 Newman Springs Road Lincroft, NJ 07738 Attn: Opt out Email. If you chose not to receive email, you could be missing out on important announcements, however all communication regarding your personal financial aid record will be mailed to you using the address on your official Brookdale record.
