Health Sciences Admissions Testing for Nursing and Allied Health Programs

Candidates for entry into one of Brookdale’s Health Sciences programs (Nursing and Allied Health) must take an entrance exam: review pre-requisites.

When you are eligible for entry into the program (all Foundational Studies courses and high school biology and chemistry, or equivalent college courses, are complete and grades posted to your transcript), contact healthscienceadmissions@brookdalecc.edu to get a pass for the Health Science entrance examination.

TEAS Test for Nursing Admissions — Frequently Asked Questions

Students wishing to enter Brookdale’s RN program must first take and pass the TEAS test.

How is the test taken?

The TEAS test can be taken either at home or in person.

To arrange your TEAS appointment please contact the Testing Center at teastesting@brookdalecc.edu.

Check our hours for the current semester for in person testing. (You would need at least four hours to test).

Does it cost anything?

Yes, the cost is $85.00 (subject to change), and must be paid for before taking the test. The Testing Center accepts any form of payment — cash, credit/debit card, money order, or check.

What should I bring with me?

In order to test, you must bring your permission slip (which was given to you or mailed to you by Admissions, which means you have met all pre-requisites to test), your form of payment, and a government-issued photo ID card. Your driver’s license, passport, Brookale ID, or county ID are all acceptable forms of ID. You do not have to pre-register.

What is on the test?

The test consists of four sections, Reading, Math, Science, and English.

What is the passing score?

You must earn a Proficient, Advanced or Exemplary score for Nursing.

Your must earn a score of 50 for Radiologic Technology or Respiratory Therapy.

What is the passing score?

Yes, the test is timed for four hours, and each section is not timed separately. It is up to you to pace yourself over the four-hour time period.

Is a calculator allowed?

A hand-held calculator is not allowed, but a calculator is built into the computer program, as of August 31, 2016.

If I don’t do well, may I retake the TEAS?

Yes, you make take it again after 30 days, but only two times within a year. You will have to wait one full year from your original test date in order to take it again.
