Judicial & Medical Interpreting Certificate

Turn your bilingual skills into a rewarding and in-demand career. Brookdale’s Judicial & Medical Interpreting Certificate prepares fluent English/Spanish and English/Portuguese speakers to serve as professional interpreters in healthcare, legal, and community settings.

The ability to overcome language barriers is essential in today’s diverse communities. Professional interpreters play a critical role in ensuring accurate communication between individuals, healthcare providers, attorneys, court personnel, and social service agencies. This comprehensive certificate program provides the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation needed to begin a career in the interpreting profession.

Students receive hands-on training in the three primary modes of interpreting:

  • Consecutive Interpreting
  • Simultaneous Interpreting
  • Sight Translation

Admission Requirements

All students must successfully complete the Introduction to Interpreting prerequisite course, which includes an assessment of second-language proficiency and an overview of the interpreting profession.

Certificate Outcome

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Brookdale Community College Judicial & Medical Interpreting Certificate and will possess the foundational skills needed to pursue professional interpreting opportunities in healthcare, legal, and community settings.
