Friends With A Mission
Friends of Lifelong Learning
A volunteer group formed with a mission to support, promote, enhance and preserve Lifelong Learning at Brookdale.
“With A Little Help from Our Friends”
From sharing ideas, providing feedback, in-class support, program promotion, and financial support, The Friends of Lifelong Learning help to ensure the growth and success of lifelong learning at Brookdale in immeasurable ways.
Here at Lifelong Learning, we are grateful for all they do and feel fortunate to have an entire team of such exceptional friends.
Meet a Friend: Q & A with Carol Smith
- Years enjoying lifelong learning classes? 23 years! I took weekend bus trips while still working and expanded into classes after retirement.
- What inspired you to create the volunteer group Friends of Lifelong Learning? I am a retired engineer. Lifelong learning has enriched my life by introducing me to completely new interests such as art, history, and literature. A dedicated group of students can demonstrate the importance of these programs and influence future decisions made by the College.
- How has Lifelong Learning adapted during Covid? The introduction of Zoom classes was wonderful, with teachers and students adapting so well, I think the option will continue post-Covid. Some classes have out-of-state participants. Wow!
- Words of wisdom for prospective Lifelong Learners? Take every opportunity to grow, learn something new, and make new friends. Brookdale’s Lifelong Learning is a gem here in Monmouth County. Use it, support it, and support those who make these opportunities available.
