Brookdale offers two Teacher Preparation Programs:

Alternate Route Training-Community Colleges (ART-CC) Program

Have a Bachelor’s Degree but lack the K-12 teacher certification?

The ART-CC program offers complete licensing preparation that starts, for all candidates, with a 50-hour Introduction to Teaching Pre-Service course. To move on to the next 350 hours of training, those already teaching in the classroom must have a Certificate of Eligibility (CE), which allows them to attend classes while teaching.

Career and Technical Educator Preparation Program

Have expertise in a career or technical field such as Automotive Technology, Culinary Arts, Family and Consumer Sciences, or Graphic Design that you’d like to teach? Lack the Bachelor’s in Education that the State of New Jersey requires to teach vocational subjects?

You may be eligible for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Educator Preparation Program Program–400 hours of New Jersey Department of Education-approved instruction that prepare you to be a NJ-certified teacher in vocational or comprehensive schools offering programs in your CTE subject area.

Prospective teacher who needs to pass the Praxis Core exam?

Our six-week online course will get you up to speed on everything from the types of reading, writing, and math questions you can expect to how to write a high-scoring essay in the time allotted. You’ll also learn strategies for successful test taking, get plenty of helpful practice questions, and have the chance to take a full-length practice test in each area.
