Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
Peer support specialists are mental health workers who have had experience with a psychiatric disorder—such as PTSD, depression, or addiction—and have been trained to counsel or assist others with that condition. Familiar with the disorder themselves, these specialists act as role models or mentors for clients facing similar difficulties. This course prepares participants to work in a variety of settings including, treatment centers, hospitals, recovery centers, faith-based organizations, and other community settings.
Areas of Study:
This NEW 48-hour Peer Recovery Support Specialist training course utilizing the CCAR curriculum will give you the foundational knowledge to start providing peer recovery support and is the first step towards obtaining state certification and the title of Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist. A required 500 hours of clinical training is also included in the training and will take place while completing your classroom instruction.
