homeland security mission statement

Considering a career in Homeland Security?

While our economy is currently struggling, jobs in homeland security are expected to remain in high demand as national security is always among the top priorities of our government. The Department of Homeland Security is responsible for protecting our country from a variety of threats, including: detection, preparation for, prevention, protection against, response to and recovery from terrorist attacks; securing our borders; administration and enforcement of immigration laws; safeguarding and securing Cyberspace; and detection, preparation for, response to and recovery from natural disasters.

There are a wide range of careers in Homeland Security. There are careers in law enforcement roles such as U.S. Air Marshalls and Border Patrol Agents, as well as careers in strategic planning and response, such as Policy & Program Analysts and Information Technology Specialists.

Brookdale’s two-year degree program is both a transfer and a career program – our graduates can find employment or go on to earn their B.S. degree.

Under a dual enrollment agreement you may also transfer your Brookdale-earned Homeland Security and Emergency Management A.S. degree to New Jersey City University (Wall campus).

Dual Admissions provides simultaneous admittance to both Brookdale and NJCU. Upon earning an A.S. degree in Homeland Security & Emergency Management from Brookdale and meeting specified admission requirements, students transfer seamlessly to NJCU and take NJCU courses at Brookdale’s Wall location to receive their B.S. in National Security Studies.
