Fashion Design & Merchandising A.S.

Students who wish to prepare for a sales, management, or buying career in the wholesale or retail fashion industry should select this program which combines fashion studies with business and general education courses. After graduation, students may either begin their careers or may choose to transfer to Bachelor degree programs in colleges which offer Fashion Merchandising degrees. Graduates of this program have been accepted with full credit to the upper division of four-year colleges which offer fashion-related Bachelor degrees. Download the brochure here.

Transferability

Program graduates transfer to upper division institutions such as Berkeley College, Centenary University, Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (CA), LIM College (NY), Montclair State University, University of Delaware and many more.

The department has a long-standing Transfer Agreement with LIM College offering guaranteed admissions and full credit transfer for graduates of the program completing the Fashion Merchandising track.

Additionally, program graduates can take advantage of a new Two Plus Two Transfer Agreement with Montclair State University.  Students earning a 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA are guaranteed admission with junior status to the B.A. Fashion Studies Program at Montclair.  See Transfer Resources/Articulation for more information.


Fashion Design Academic Credit Certificate of Achievement

This certificate of achievement in fashion design is intended to provide students with job specific education and skills for advancement in the fashion industry.  Graduates of this program can move on to careers in apparel design, product development, costume design, retail, freelance work, and other entrepreneurial opportunities.  They may work in wholesale or manufacturing establishments, apparel companies, or retailers. Fashion Merchandising Academic Credit Certificate of Achievement

This certificate of achievement in fashion merchandising is intended to provide students with job specific education and skills for advancement in the fashion industry.
