Speech Lab

The Speech Lab offers academic support to any Brookdale student enrolled in a Speech Communication course. The Speech Communication Department Academic Tutor manages the Speech Lab. The Speech Lab helps students with all aspects of the speech preparation process, including:

• Topic Selection
• Research
• Source Citation
• Organizing & Outlining the Speech
• Visual Aids
• Delivery Skills

The Speech Lab has a computer room where students may work on their speech research, outlining, and visual aids.

Students are encouraged to schedule appointments online in Thinking Storm with the Speech Communication Department Academic Tutor. (Students without appointments may attempt to drop-in. Drop-in appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed in Larrison Hall (LAH) 307.) Students may use the computer room without an appointment.

Students can schedule rehearsal time in one of the Speech Communication classrooms in Larrison Hall. The rooms are available Monday to Thursday (4:30-6 PM) and Tuesday and Thursday (12-1PM), and may be reserved by calling the Speech Communication Department Academic Tutor at 732-224-2171.

Throughout the semester the Academic Tutor holds Workshops on specific aspects of the speech preparation process, which will be posted in Canvas.
