The members of the Brookdale History Department share a common passion to relate the stories and the dramas of our human past. The faculty has developed a wide array of courses to provide Brookdale students with an exciting and rewarding educational experience.
History courses at Brookdale address controversial topics and those relative to the contemporary world, sharpen reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, and fulfill General Education requirements mandated by the State of New Jersey. The study of history will prepare you for any major or career, and the Brookdale History Department faculty members are committed to helping students learn and develop personally as well as academically.

History Option, Social Sciences A.A.
This option prepares students for transfer to a four-year college history program while it expands awareness of other cultures, helps connect the past to contemporary concerns, and encourages intellectual curiosity. Careers typically pursued by history majors includes business, law, government service, diplomacy, publishing, journalism, social work, library and museum work, as well as teaching.
